Concentrations up to 1600 million spores/m.3 air were recorded in farm buildings while hay was being shaken. The concentration decreased by 90 % in 20 min. Actinomycete spores formed up to 98 % of the total. Micromonospora vulgaris was the most abundant species isolated. Mucor pusillus, Absidia ramosa, Aspergillus fumigatus, A. terreus and A. nidulans, all potentially pathogenic to man and animals, were the most frequently isolated fungi. RESP-5135
