A survey was made in Wales and in n. and s.-w. England. Total marginal land in private occupation is c. 2,400,000 acres (1,000,000 acres in Wales and Welsh border counties). In addition there is a further 500,000 acres of common grazing in marginal land areas. Total capital investment required is [pound sterling] 40 - [pound sterling] 45 per acre improved and this would probably lead to a 70% increase above present values. RESP-3165
