The effects of the nitrogen in soils on the growth, composition and yield of crops.
pp. 174-188.
Available N measured in the laboratory was positively correlated with dry-matter yield and N uptake by crops; with no added N, N% in plants varied less than dry matter or N uptake did and correlated less well with soil-N than either, whereas addition of fertilizer N increased N% and decreased correlations with measurements of soil N. Effects of leys on soil-N and yields (wheat), effects of soil-and fertilizer-N on ryegrass (in pots), and effects of N form, and level on yield and composition of rye-grass are discussed RESP-6372
