Sulphate supply and its effects on sap quality during growth in sugar beet storage roots

Increasing the concentration of inorganic N increases the concentration of α‐amino‐N compounds in roots of hydroponically‐grown sugar beet plants. These concentrations can, however, be reduced by increasing the concentration of sulphate in the nutrient solution.
