Abstract

The Dufour's gland of the parasitic wasp Nemeritis (= Venturia) canescens (Grav.) was shown by gas chromatography and mass spectrometry to contain a mixture of C21, C23, and C25 saturated and monounsaturated hydrocarbons. The main component (62%) was (Z)-10-tricosene. The biological activity of the components is discussed.
