2-Benzylcyclopent-2-enones, obtained by rearrangement of the corresponding benzylidenecyclopentanones, are brominated by -bromosuccinimide at the 4-position; the products upon treatment with silver chrysanthemate give new analogues of the natural pyrethrins.
