Abstract

Fesluca longifolia Thuill., Blue Fescue. was first recorded in Devon on limestone at Berry Head in 1936. More recently it has been found on sea cliffs in South Devon between Start Point and Bolt Tail on both micaschist and hornblende-chlorite schist rocks and another site on limestone near Torquay. F. longifolia is not an obligate calcifuge but occurs on dry soils in the absence of competition. It may be more widely distributed in the south-west peninsula of England.
