In pot trials in 1976, perennial ryegrass received 100 or 200 mg N/400 g soil as 0.5-mm particles of glycoluril (tetrdro-imidazomidazole-2,5(1H,3H)-dione), IBDU (isobutylidene di-urea) or oxamide, or as Ca(NO3)2 + NH4NO3. N uptake was much less from glycoluril than from IBDU or oxamide at harvests 1-3 and much greater at harvests 4-9. The pattern of uptake resembled that from split applications of soluble N. In 1977, glycoluril and IBDU were applied at 200-800 mg/400 g soil.
