AuthorsNutman, P. S.
Abstract

Chapters 1 and 16 describe the origin of the nitrogen cycle, the distribution of nitrogen in the biosphere, and the processes, including fixation, that maintain equilibrium between molecular and combined nitrogen.
Chapter 10 will deal with the biology of nitrogen-fixing symbioses, principally in root-nodules of legumes, and particular attention will be paid to the intrinsic factors of host and strain that regulate the efficiency of the fixing process.
