Abstract

SUMMARYNine strains of Streptococcus pluton (White) were isolated at Rothamsted from larvae with European foul brood from different parts of the world; all were very sensitive to erythromycin. The cultures isolated in Switzerland from bees with European foul brood, which are reported to resist erythromycin, are very atypical, or more probably not 5. pluton but secondary invaders.
